Divorced and loving it.

Moving, RP, and a general "Year in Review" Jan. 5th, 2008 @ 08:51 pm
Wow, made it through 2007.

Highlights:  This past summer marked Year 2 of playing CN. Amazingly, I've kept the alliance some friends and I formed from being subject to "bad things" For 2008, I'll hand the foreign policy reins to the new kids.

In other news, RP on DH, a game modded by a friend of mine from way back resumed for me. Currently we're moving the game to IJ due to GJ instituting severe icon limits. Likewise, RP for VFS-152 "Wildcards" ended early this past year with the complete conclusion of the total plot.

In IRL news, Nick and I have celebrated the 1st birthday of our daughter Minako Anya Roshenko-Sonoda. She's now a (somewhat) walking and talking holy terror... obviously she takes after me. ^_^

Also, we had the return of the PW forums. Though now it's open verbal warfare between neo-conservatives and libertarians... about damned time.

And the last major thing. Nick, Mina, and I have moved from Idaho to the town of Splendora, TX. The adjustment continues.

Guess that covers the highlights.

15 Year Internet Retrospective Aug. 6th, 2007 @ 12:55 pm
I happened to notice something today, I've been using the internet for 15 years this year.

In the beginning, there was the shell account. At that point, the internet was text unless you had the vastly more expensive SLIP account and had a machine capable of running... Mosaic. It was in those days I encountered the two main things I've used continuously all the way to today...

Email, and IRC.

Then, around 1994-95, SLIP and later PPP accounts became more affordable. To take advantage of this, the old Mac Color Classic II fell by the wayside, replaced by the might of a Power Macintosh 7500 sporting a blazing fast (yeah right) Power PC 601 (this later got bumped up to a 200MHz 604e, and then to a 400MHz G4). From there it's a stream of Macs and PCs.

I've met many people. Many of the friendships begun have endured, and and equal number have faded away. Some even ended rather suddenly and with bad feelings. Sometimes my "remarkable" ability to tell people exactly what they don't want to hear is more than some can take. I mainly look at my side of what went wrong, make corrections, and then move on. I don't stop and angst, I move on through. Some will say I'm a bitch. To that I offer a simple question in replay...

SO? YOUR POINT IS...?

So here's to me surviving 15 years of the Drama Llama, wangst, lamers, n00bz, dicks, pricks, ho-bags, snobs, and vitriol-throwing flamers.

To those opposed, cry moar n00b!

Long year is loooooooooong! Aug. 3rd, 2007 @ 02:25 pm
Just a few quick notes...

1: I'm not dead.
2: Mina's doing great. She's walking and starting to talk. As a result, I've been on a mass child-proofing spree.
3: I'm absolutely shocked that it took Fox News this long to discover 4chan, and Anonymous.

Let it not be said that the RKBA side will not compromise. Feb. 24th, 2006 @ 12:30 pm
Too often, RKBA proponents are accused of being unwilling to compromise. In actuality, this is more of a case of those opposed to gun rights being unwilling to truely compromise. To them, "allowing" us to keep any guns is "compromise", needless to say, we reject that view.

So, what would a real compromise look like? Let me give you an idea,

For an example, I personally have no objections to firearm registration provided that two conditions are met.

1) No type bans, manufacturing bans, or importation bans. Zip, zero, nada. In fact, on this condition, the federal government should renounce by law any percieved authority to ban the sale, manufacture, or import of any firearm.

2) Legislation strictly limiting the ability to confiscate firearms to convicted felons.

Condition 1 provides the RKBA side with a measure they actively support. Condition 2 pre-empts all "registration leads inevitably to confiscation" arguments and concerns.

By this compromise, the 2nd amendment is satisfied, the RKBA side can claim a victory, and gun controllers can get registration.

Yes, I know I'm being naive to believe that gun controllers will stop at anything less than total firearm prohibition, but let it never be said that we didn't try.

Solothurn S18-1000, WW2 vintage 20mm Anti-Tank Rifle

In other news, the rabbit died. So now I need to find a stroller, car seat, basinett, crib, and a youth model .17HMR rifle.
» FUN!
First up, Aeon Flux kicked ass. I love action movies and I loved the original animated series. Was it art? Who cares? I liked it.

Next up. I put the first magazine through my new semiauto AK74. For those reading this who have no clue what an AK74 is, it's an Avtomat Kalashnikova type rifle chambered for the low recoil impulse 5.45x39mm cartridge and with improvements is the current standard issue rifle of the Russian Federation. The results you ask? 1.75" to 2" three round groups at 100 meters. I like. ^_^
» What I've been up to.
Well here's a rundown of what new and/or news in my corner of the planet.

Read 'Lucifer's Hammer' by Jerry Pournelle and Larry Niven. Re-read 'Unintended Consequences' by John Ross. Also read lately, "The Art of The Rifle" and "Tactical Pistol: Advanced Gunfighting Concepts And Techniques" by Jeff Cooper.

Finished GiTS:SAC 2nd Gig. Don't ask, see it. ^_^

Going to see Aeon Flux tomorrow. ^_^

Also finished my kit build of a semiauto AK74 tonight. I can't wait to try it out tomorrow.

» My Gender Disgusts me, Part Ni!
This is it. I will no longer go to the defense of any woman who claims abuse by her boyfriend or husband. Having watched another fine example of a local gentleman get totally screwed over by some bitch who ended the night in the arms of a woman beating louse.

In truth, let's face it. Any woman who complains about their abusive other and then totally disses a real nice guy, brings it on herself.

Fuck political correctness, this is how I see it at this point. Apparently, the "dangerous type" no longer means "James Bond", but the guy on an episode of COPS being hauled away, with the sleestack of a woman in a loose fitting tank tiop is leaning on the screen door is yelling "Lock his ass up!" In a week, she'll be all over him again.

Is this the coke and 151 talking? No. This is Meg furious at the rest of her gender for treating the best men like shit. Nothing beats a real gentleman.
